A heart symbol is a plain Unicode character, so it works anywhere text works: Instagram and TikTok bios, Discord names, WhatsApp statuses, gaming tags, emails and documents. This page gathers the text hearts (♥ ♡ ❤ ❥ ❣ ღ) and the coloured heart emoji (💖 🖤 🤍 💙 …) so you do not have to hunt through a keyboard for the right one.
The text hearts and the emoji hearts behave differently. Text hearts such as ♥ and ♡ are drawn by the font, follow the text colour and stay small and neat inside a name. Emoji hearts are rendered as full-colour pictures by the phone or browser and stand out more, which is what you want in a caption or a status line.

| Symbol | Unicode name | Code point | HTML entity | Copy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ♥ | Black heart suit | U+2665 | ♥ | |
| ♡ | White heart suit | U+2661 | ♡ | |
| ❤ | Heavy black heart | U+2764 | ❤ | |

| ❣ | Heavy heart exclamation mark ornament | U+2763 | ❣ | |
| ❦ | Floral heart | U+2766 | ❦ | |
| ღ | Georgian letter ghan (used as a heart) | U+10E6 | ღ | |
| 💖 | Sparkling heart | U+1F496 | 💖 | |
| 💕 | Two hearts | U+1F495 | 💕 | |
| 🖤 | Black heart | U+1F5A4 | 🖤 | |
| 🤍 | White heart | U+1F90D | 🤍 | |
| 💔 | Broken heart | U+1F494 | 💔 |
The two families come from different parts of Unicode. ♥ (U+2665) and ♡ (U+2661) are card-suit symbols from the Miscellaneous Symbols block that predate emoji; ❤ ❥ ❣ ❦ ❧ come from the Dingbats block. The coloured hearts (💖 💙 🖤 🤍 and the rest) are emoji, which means each platform draws them in its own style – an Apple heart and a Samsung heart never look identical.
For usernames and short display names, a text heart is the safer choice: it never changes shape between devices and does not count as a picture in name filters. For posts, comments and captions, emoji hearts carry more colour and emotion.
Every heart on this page pastes into Instagram (name, bio, captions, comments, Notes), TikTok (name, bio, captions, comments), Discord (display name, server nickname, channel and role names, messages), WhatsApp, Telegram, Snapchat, X, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn. They also work in Google Docs, Word, email subject lines and most games that allow Unicode in player names – PUBG, Free Fire, Roblox and Fortnite all accept ♥ and ♡ in display names.
The one place hearts fail is a strict @handle: Instagram, TikTok and Discord usernames allow letters, numbers, periods and underscores only. Put the heart in the display name or bio instead.
Hearts are most often used as bookends around a name or as a divider line. Copy a pattern and replace the middle word:
On Windows, hold Alt and type 3 on the numeric keypad to get ♥; Win + . opens the emoji picker for the coloured hearts. On macOS, Ctrl + Cmd + Space opens the character viewer – search "heart". On iPhone and Android the emoji keyboard has every colour heart, but not the text hearts ♡ ❥ ❣, which is why most people copy those from a page like this one.

Not in the @username – Instagram only allows letters, numbers, periods and underscores there. Hearts work in your display name, bio, captions and comments.
Emoji hearts are drawn by each operating system in its own style. Text hearts like ♥ and ♡ look the same everywhere because they are simple glyphs.
