Twitter (X) Fonts Generator – Bold & Fancy Text for X

X does not offer bold or italic for posts unless you subscribe to Premium – and even then formatting only shows to some users. Unicode fonts work for everyone: 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱 and 𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘤 characters are plain text, so they appear identically in the timeline, replies, quote posts, notifications and embeds.

This generator includes the styles that fit X best: sans bold for the hook, italic for emphasis, monospace for code-style snippets, and a thread marker for the first post of a thread.

X Premium added limited bold and italic in 2024, but it only works in the composer for subscribers. Unicode bold and italic have been used on Twitter for over a decade and need no subscription. They also survive when a post is quoted, screenshotted or embedded elsewhere, because they are characters rather than formatting.

Because every character counts, fancy text does not cost extra characters – 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱 is four characters, the same as Bold. Combining-mark styles (underline, strikethrough) do count double.

Unicode fonts work in posts, replies, quote posts, your display name, bio, location field, Community names and Spaces titles. The @handle is restricted to letters, numbers and underscores.

On X the timeline is dense, so a bold first line stops the scroll and the rest of the post should be plain. Monospace is popular with developers for one-line code, Small Caps for minimalist bios, and Full Width for the vaporwave aesthetic. Avoid long italic passages – italic sans characters are thin and hard to read on mobile.

X search does not match styled words, so keep any keyword you want to be found by – including hashtags and cashtags – in plain text. Screen readers may read fancy characters one at a time; use them for short emphasis only.
