Clan Tag Generator – Cool Clan Tags & Squad Names with Symbols

A clan tag is the short label shown before members' names – [TAG] Name – and how a squad is recognised in lobbies, kill feeds and tournament brackets. Some games generate the brackets automatically from a 3–6 character tag you enter; others (Discord, Steam, CS2 name tags) let you type the tag yourself, which is where brackets, symbols and Unicode fonts come in.

This clan tag generator produces both plain [TAG] tags for games that add nothing and decorated versions for platforms that accept Unicode.

Games differ in length and character rules. Where the game shows the tag in its own brackets, enter only the letters.

Use a short, pronounceable abbreviation of the clan name in capitals – ELT, NOVA, KRZ. Heavy fonts (Gothic Bold, Square, Double Struck) stay readable at three or four letters but not at ten. One symbol on one side (☠ ♛ ⚡) is the sweet spot; symmetrical brackets work for all lengths. Avoid look-alike letters that make the tag hard to search for or that resemble another well-known clan.

The tag only works when everyone uses the exact same characters. Share the copied text in your clan chat rather than describing it ("the star one") so no one substitutes a similar-looking symbol. For games with automatic tags, agree on the same nickname style too – for example everyone in Small Caps.

Tournament platforms and roster pages usually require plain text team tags because they are entered into brackets and overlays. Register the plain [TAG] version there and keep decorated tags for in-game names and social profiles.
