Viber has no text formatting of its own, so Unicode styling is the only way to give a name or a message a different look. It works in every field a person sees: your display name, group names, community names and descriptions, and message text. Viber is strongest in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia, where group and community names often mix Latin and Cyrillic – both are plain Unicode and can sit in the same styled name.

Communities are Viber’s large public groups, and their names appear in a searchable directory, so the 【】 title format with plain keywords inside is the practical choice there. For private family and friend groups, the decorative rows are unrestricted.

Viber Fields and Limits

Cyrillic and Mixed-Script Names

Cyrillic text is ordinary Unicode and needs no conversion – type it directly. The styled Latin alphabets on this page cover A–Z only, so a mixed name keeps its Cyrillic part plain while the Latin part is styled. Note that the faux-Cyrillic styles found on some sites replace Latin letters with Cyrillic look-alikes, which breaks search for both languages; for a genuinely Cyrillic name, type it normally.

Groups vs Communities

Groups are private and capped at 250 members – style the name freely, using the Family frame or Star frame rows. Communities are public, can hold unlimited members, and are found through Viber’s search, so a fully styled name will not match a search for its words. Put the plain name inside 【】 and style only the frame. Community admins can also post announcements; the 📢 row makes those stand out in the message list.
