Styled letters are Unicode characters, not fonts – screen readers may read them letter by letter and search engines don't match them to plain words, so keep essential details in plain text. Learn more

iOS does not let you change the font of a text message, a note or a contact name, and the App Store keyboard apps that promise β€œfonts” need full keyboard access to your typing. You do not need any of that: Unicode characters that look like fonts can be copied from this page and pasted into iMessage, Notes, Reminders, Contacts, Mail subject lines, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp and every other app – no install, no permissions.

iPhones ship with fonts that cover all the mathematical alphabets, so bold, cursive, gothic, bubble and small caps display perfectly on iOS and on the Android phones of the people you message. The styles are also accepted in Apple ID display names, AirDrop device names and Focus mode names.

How to Use This Generator

  3. 3

Open the app, tap and hold the text field, choose Paste.

Where iPhone Fonts Work

Anywhere iOS accepts text. Some favourite places:

  • iMessage – styled messages and group chat names
  • Contacts – a contact name in cursive shows in calls and notifications
  • Notes and Reminders – headings in bold or small caps
  • Device name (Settings β†’ General β†’ About) – shows in AirDrop and Find My
  • Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Discord bios and names

Fonts vs Keyboard Apps

Font keyboard apps generate the same Unicode characters this page does; the difference is they run as a keyboard with β€œFull Access”, which lets them read what you type. Copying from a web page gives the same result with no access to your keyboard. If you want fonts while typing, use the Text Replacement feature (Settings β†’ General β†’ Keyboard) to map a shortcut to a styled word you copied from here.

Tips for iOS

Long-press the text field and tap Paste (or tap the clipboard icon above the keyboard). Styled text counts as more characters in some fields – a 30-character Instagram name holds about 15 styled letters. If a friend on an old Android sees boxes, send the bold or italic version, which has the widest support. The Tiny row uses superscript letters for a smaller look in Notes headers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I change the font on my iPhone without an app?

Copy a styled version of your text from here and paste it – it works in any app because it is text, not a font.

Do these fonts work in iMessage?

Yes – paste them into a message or a group name. The recipient sees them even on Android.

Can I change my contact names to cursive?

Yes – paste the cursive name into the Contacts name field.

Are font keyboard apps safe?

They need full keyboard access. Copying from this page needs no permissions and gives the same characters.

Is it free?

Yes.
