Styled letters are Unicode characters, not fonts. Platform fields may reject some characters, and glyph appearance varies by device and app. Screen readers may announce styled letters individually and search engines may not match them to plain words, so test the result and keep essential details in plain text. Unicode accessibility guide
Roblox distinguishes account usernames from display names, and the fields can have different character rules. This page lets you preview Unicode styles, but it does not verify each character against Robloxโs live filters or guarantee that a name will render in every game or chat.
Check Robloxโs current name requirements and test the exact text in the display-name editor before saving. A result accepted by the profile may still look different in a game or on another device.
Type the name you want to test.
Pick a style and review the preview.
Copy it.
Open Settings โ Account Info โ Display Name, paste the result, and check the current counter and validation message.
Display names must be 3โ20 characters, cannot contain spaces at the ends, and pass Roblox's moderation filter. Unicode letters from the mathematical alphabets (bold, italic, script, gothic, double struck, monospace) and small caps are accepted; so are common symbols like โ and ๊ง๊ง. Emoji are rejected. You can change your display name once every seven days, so preview carefully before saving.
Roblox's in-experience name tags are small, so dense readable styles win: Sans Bold, Small Caps and Gothic Bold are clearly legible above a character. Double Struck and Bubble are more decorative and work for profiles more than name tags. Aesthetic spaced small caps is popular in roleplay and fashion communities; a โ on one side is enough decoration within the 20-character limit.
The About section on your profile (1,000 characters) and group descriptions accept the same Unicode fonts. Use Bold for headings, Small Caps for labels and plain text for the details. Roblox chat also displays Unicode fonts, but the chat filter may replace some decorated text with hashtags, so keep chat messages mostly plain.
The same styles work in Discord (where most Roblox communities live), Steam and Minecraft servers that allow Unicode nicknames. Fortnite and console gamertags on Xbox and PlayStation reject most Unicode, so use plain text there.
No โ usernames only allow letters, numbers and one underscore. Use fonts in your display name instead.
It is likely over 20 characters after decoration, contains an emoji, or was caught by the moderation filter. Try a shorter version without emoji.
