"Freaky fonts" is the internet's name for text that looks deliberately off โ€“ upside down, mirrored, struck through, dotted, or wrapped in unsettling symbols. All of it is Unicode: flipped letters come from phonetic alphabets, glitch effects from combining marks, and the frames from symbol blocks. Nothing here is an image, so it pastes into any bio, comment or username field.

This page stays on the readable side of freaky. For the full stacked-mark "Zalgo" effect, use the dedicated Glitch Text Generator.

How to Use This Generator

  1. Type a word or short phrase.
  2. Pick a freaky style โ€“ Flipped and Slashed are the most popular.
  3. Copy and paste into your bio, comment or display name.

How Freaky Text Works

Flipped text swaps each letter for a Unicode character that looks like it upside down (ษ, q, ษ”, p, วโ€ฆ) and reverses the order, so the whole line reads rotated. Mirrored text simply reverses the string. Slashed, static and dotted styles attach one combining mark to every letter, which most apps render on top of the character. Squared and filled-bubble letters are enclosed alphanumerics that look like keycaps.

Where Freaky Fonts Work

Letter-based styles (flipped, squared, bubble) work everywhere text is accepted. Combining-mark styles work in bios, comments and messages on Instagram, TikTok, Discord, X and Threads, but many game name fields strip or reject combining marks โ€“ use a letter-based style for gamer tags.

  • โœ“ Instagram / TikTok / Threads bio and comments โ€“ all styles
  • โœ“ Discord display name and messages โ€“ all styles
  • โœ“ X posts and bio โ€“ all styles (combining marks count double)
  • โœ“ Game names (Roblox, Free Fire, PUBG) โ€“ Flipped, Squared and Bubble only

Freaky vs Cursed vs Glitch

Freaky text is readable with a twist โ€“ you can still make out the words. Cursed or Zalgo text stacks many combining marks above and below each letter until it bleeds into other lines; it is dramatic but often clipped or blocked by apps. Glitch text sits in between โ€“ a strikethrough or static line over monospace letters. Choose based on how much you need people to actually read it.

Readability and Moderation

Some platforms limit or filter text with many combining characters to prevent abuse. Single-mark styles like the ones here are allowed; extreme stacking may be removed. Screen readers cannot read flipped text meaningfully, so keep anything important in plain text alongside it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are freaky fonts?+
Unicode text styles that look intentionally odd โ€“ flipped, mirrored, slashed, dotted or framed with unsettling symbols โ€“ used for bios, comments and usernames.
Is freaky text the same as Zalgo?+
No. Zalgo stacks many marks per letter and becomes unreadable. Freaky styles here use one mark or a letter swap and stay readable.
Can I use freaky fonts in a game username?+
Use Flipped, Squared or Bubble โ€“ letter-based styles. Games usually reject combining marks.
Why does the text look different on my friend's phone?+
Combining marks are drawn by each device's font renderer, so line thickness and position vary slightly. The letters themselves are the same.
Is this free?+
Yes.
