Emoji text uses the "regional indicator" characters โ€“ the blue letter blocks that normally combine in pairs to form country flags โ€“ as a colourful alphabet. Written with a space between each letter they stay as individual blocks instead of turning into flags, giving the ๐Ÿ‡ช ๐Ÿ‡ฒ ๐Ÿ‡ด ๐Ÿ‡ฏ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ look popular in Discord messages, Instagram comments and iMessage.

A handful of letters also exist as squared emoji (๐Ÿ…ฐ๏ธ ๐Ÿ…ฑ๏ธ ๐Ÿ…พ๏ธ ๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ โ“‚๏ธ โ„น๏ธ) and every digit has a keycap version (1๏ธโƒฃ). The mixed style uses those where they exist.

How to Use This Generator

  1. Type a word, name or number.
  2. Copy the emoji-letter version. Keep the spaces โ€“ they stop pairs of letters becoming flags.
  3. Paste into Discord, Instagram, iMessage or anywhere emoji are supported.

Why the Spaces Matter

Two regional indicators next to each other are interpreted as a country code: ๐Ÿ‡บ followed directly by ๐Ÿ‡ธ renders as the US flag. That is why this generator inserts a space after every letter โ€“ "US" becomes ๐Ÿ‡บ ๐Ÿ‡ธ (two blocks) rather than a flag. If you remove the spaces, some letter pairs will turn into flags on most platforms.

Where Emoji Letters Work

Regional-indicator letters render on every modern OS and are especially common on Discord (announcements, reaction words), Slack, Instagram comments, TikTok captions and WhatsApp. Most username fields reject emoji, so use emoji text in messages, bios and display names rather than @handles. On X the blocks count as two characters each, so a long word uses up the limit quickly.

  • โœ“ Discord messages and channel topics โ€“ excellent support
  • โœ“ Instagram / TikTok captions and comments โ€“ supported
  • โœ“ iMessage / WhatsApp โ€“ supported
  • โœ“ @usernames โ€“ not accepted; use the text-only squared style instead

Emoji Letters vs Squared Text

The regional-indicator blocks are emoji: colourful, large, and drawn differently by Apple, Google and Microsoft. The squared (๐Ÿ…‚๐Ÿ…€๐Ÿ…„) and filled-bubble (๐Ÿ…‚ vs ๐Ÿ†‚) styles are Unicode text characters: monochrome, smaller, and accepted in far more places including many game name fields. Use emoji letters for impact in chats and the text styles for names.

Accessibility Note

Screen readers announce each block as "regional indicator symbol letter H", which makes emoji-letter words slow to listen to. Use them for a single word of emphasis and keep the rest of your message in normal text.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do two of my letters turn into a flag?+
Adjacent regional indicators form a flag. Keep the spaces the generator adds between letters.
Can I use emoji letters in my Instagram username?+
No โ€“ handles only allow letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Use them in your name, bio or captions.
Why is only A, B, O, P, M and I available as squared emoji?+
