Russian Font Generator – Faux Cyrillic Letters Copy & Paste

Faux Cyrillic (also called "fake Russian" or Volapuk encoding) replaces Latin letters with Cyrillic letters that look similar but usually sound completely different: Я (ya) stands in for R, И (i) for N, Д (d) for A and Ц (ts) for U. The result is English that looks Russian to non-readers – the style of Cold War movie posters, "Tetris" logos and metal-band art.

This Russian font generator applies the classic substitution set. A Russian speaker would read it as gibberish, so use it for visual effect, not for communicating in Russian.

Only letters with a convincing Cyrillic look-alike are swapped; the rest stay Latin so the word remains recognisable.

Cyrillic letters have their own sounds: Я is "ya", Й is a "y" glide, Ц is "ts", Щ is "shch". "ЯЦЅЅІДЙ" therefore reads as "yatsssidy" to a Russian speaker. The look works because English readers recognise the shapes, not the sounds. If you need real Russian text, use a translator; if you want the aesthetic, this is the tool.

Gaming names and clan tags (especially in CS2, Dota and Tarkov communities), metal and techno band or track titles, streetwear and poster designs, Halloween or spy-themed party invitations, and social captions referencing Soviet-era aesthetics. Because the output is Unicode Cyrillic, it pastes into any name field that accepts non-Latin letters – Discord, Steam and most games allow it.

Cyrillic is supported on every device and font, so the text always renders. Search engines and platform search treat Cyrillic letters as different characters from Latin ones – a faux-Cyrillic name cannot be found by typing the English spelling. Keep a plain-text version of anything people need to search for.
