The club name field is 15 characters and runs through EAโs name filter, which blocks offensive terms, real club impersonation and some symbol patterns โ styled Unicode letters usually pass, but the filter is the deciding factor and a rejected name is not a character-support problem.
The Abbreviation row takes your typed name and produces a three-letter uppercase version, since that is what the scoreboard shows. Pro Clubs team names follow similar limits. Styled club names also appear in FUT Champions results and on companion-app leaderboards.

Names That Look Good on the Scoreboard
The scoreboard shows the abbreviation, the results screen the full name. Bold sans and double-struck are the most legible at broadcast size; gothic loses definition. Symbols in the abbreviation are not supported โ it is three letters โ so put the styling in the full club name and keep the abbreviation clean. The Trophy, Football and Fire rows read well on the results screen where the name has more space.
Filters and Commentary
EAโs commentary engine reads club names from a fixed list of recorded phrases, so a custom name โ styled or not โ is not spoken; only the abbreviation appears visually. The filter is stricter on Ultimate Team than on Pro Clubs, and names that were accepted in a previous edition may be rejected in a new one. If a styled name is refused, try the same name in plain letters to confirm whether it is the characters or the words.
