Small caps are uppercase letter shapes drawn at lowercase height. Word processors fake them by shrinking capitals, but Unicode has dedicated small-capital characters (ᴀ ʙ ᴄ ᴅ …) from the phonetic alphabet blocks. The characters come from the IPA Extensions and Phonetic Extensions blocks of Unicode, where linguists use small capitals to write sounds. Most letters have a small-cap form; a few (like Q and X) do not have a dedicated glyph, so the generator substitutes the closest available character. Both upper- and lowercase input map to the same small-cap letter, so "Hello" and "hello" give the same result.

Small caps are the base of the "soft aesthetic" bio style on Instagram and TikTok, especially with a space between letters. Discord servers use them for category and channel names (ɢᴇɴᴇʀᴀʟ, ᴀɴɴᴏᴜɴᴄᴇᴍᴇɴᴛꜱ) because they survive the lowercase conversion that text channels apply. Small caps (ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ) keep normal letter height but use capital shapes. Tiny text (ᵗⁱⁿʸ) uses superscript characters and is genuinely smaller and raised. Small caps are among the most readable fancy styles because the letterforms are still standard capitals. Screen readers, however, may pronounce some of the phonetic characters unusually. Keep essential information in normal text and use small caps for labels and short lines.
