Small caps are uppercase letter shapes drawn at lowercase height. Word processors fake them by shrinking capitals, but Unicode has dedicated small-capital characters (ᴀ ʙ ᴄ ᴅ …) from the phonetic alphabet blocks. This small caps generator maps every letter to those characters, so the result is text that keeps its look when pasted anywhere.

Small caps are a favourite for clean, minimalist bios and Discord channel names because they are subtle, readable and take no extra width.

How to Use This Generator

  1. Type or paste your text above.
  2. Copy the Small Caps style, or a spaced/decorated variant.
  3. Paste it into your bio, channel name, caption or document.

How Unicode Small Caps Work

The characters come from the IPA Extensions and Phonetic Extensions blocks of Unicode, where linguists use small capitals to write sounds. Most letters have a small-cap form; a few (like Q and X) do not have a dedicated glyph, so the generator substitutes the closest available character. Both upper- and lowercase input map to the same small-cap letter, so "Hello" and "hello" give the same result.

Where Small Caps Are Used

Small caps are the base of the "soft aesthetic" bio style on Instagram and TikTok, especially with a space between letters. Discord servers use them for category and channel names (ɢᴇɴᴇʀᴀʟ, ᴀɴɴᴏᴜɴᴄᴇᴍᴇɴᴛꜱ) because they survive the lowercase conversion that text channels apply. They are also common for section labels in LinkedIn About sections and for subtitles in YouTube descriptions.

  • Instagram / TikTok bios – minimal, aesthetic look
  • Discord channel and category names
  • LinkedIn section headers (ᴇxᴘᴇʀɪᴇɴᴄᴇ, ꜱᴋɪʟʟꜱ)
  • YouTube description subtitles
  • Gaming display names when paired with a symbol

Small Caps vs Tiny Text

Small caps (ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ) keep normal letter height but use capital shapes. Tiny text (ᵗⁱⁿʸ) uses superscript characters and is genuinely smaller and raised. Use small caps when you want elegance and readability; use tiny text for a subtle footnote or a playful effect. Our Small Text Generator covers the superscript version.

Readability and Accessibility

Small caps are among the most readable fancy styles because the letterforms are still standard capitals. Screen readers, however, may pronounce some of the phonetic characters unusually. Keep essential information in normal text and use small caps for labels and short lines.
