Length, Placement and Size
Preview the whole phrase, not just one word: a five-word quote in blackletter is very wide, while the same quote in small caps fits an inner forearm. Thin script needs a larger size to age well โ tiny script tattoos blur over time. Ask your artist about minimum letter height for the style you choose; most recommend at least 1 cm for script and fine line.
Spelling, Dates and Foreign Words
Double-check every character before your appointment. For dates, decide between numerals (14.02.2026), Roman numerals (XIVยทIIยทMMXXVI) and written form. For words in another language, confirm the spelling and accents with a native speaker โ a Unicode preview shows accents correctly, but the meaning is on you.
