Steam Name Fonts – Fancy Unicode Text for Your Steam Profile

Steam profile names can be changed any time, are 32 characters long and accept nearly every Unicode character, which is why elaborate names are everywhere in CS2 and Dota lobbies. The same text appears in the friends list, the in-game overlay, chat and scoreboards, so a styled Steam name follows you into every game.

The profile summary supports Steam's own BBCode for bold and headings, but Unicode fonts add styles BBCode lacks and work in showcase titles and group names where BBCode does not.

Profile names are 1–32 characters and can be changed freely; Steam keeps a public history of previous names. Almost all Unicode is accepted, including symbols like ꧁꧂, ☠ and ★. A few games (Valve's own titles included) render names in their own fonts and may show missing glyphs as boxes for rarer symbols – test in the game you play most.

CS2, Dota 2, Team Fortress 2 and most Source games display the mathematical alphabets correctly. Games built on older engines sometimes substitute a fallback font that lacks double-struck or filled-square glyphs. Sans Bold and Small Caps use widely supported code points and are the safest for competitive games; keep decorations to one side so the name is not cut off in the scoreboard.

The summary supports [b], [i], [h1] and [url] BBCode. Combine that with Unicode fonts for section labels – a small-caps ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ header above BBCode-formatted text is a common layout. Showcase titles do not support BBCode, so Unicode is the only way to style them.

Because Steam accepts look-alike Unicode letters, scammers impersonate friends with names that look identical. Check the profile URL and Steam ID, not the display name, before trading or clicking links. Do not use faux-Cyrillic or look-alike letters to impersonate someone – it violates Steam's rules.
