This Japanese font generator maps each Latin letter to a CJK character or kana whose shape resembles it – 卂 for A, 乃 for B, 匚 for C, 刀 for D, 乇 for E – producing text that looks Japanese or Chinese to Western eyes. The characters are real (刀 means "knife", 山 means "mountain") but the string is meaningless in either language; the effect is purely visual, the same trick as faux Cyrillic.
It is widely used for anime-themed usernames, Discord and Steam names, gaming clan tags and captions on aesthetic accounts. If you want real Japanese, use a translator and copy actual kana or kanji.
A 卂 B 乃 C 匚 D 刀 E 乇 F 下 G Ꮆ H 卄 I 丨 J フ K Ҝ L ㄥ M 爪 N 几 O ㄖ P 卩 Q Ɋ R 尺 S 丂 T ㄒ U ㄩ V ᐯ W 山 X 乂 Y ㄚ Z 乙. Upper and lower case map to the same character. The set mixes Chinese characters, Japanese katakana (フ), Bopomofo symbols (ㄥ ㄖ ㄒ ㄩ ㄚ) and a few letters from other scripts, chosen for shape only.
Chinese and Japanese share the CJK character set, so the style could equally be called a Chinese font generator. To someone who does not read either language the angular strokes read as East Asian writing in general. To Japanese or Chinese readers the text looks like random characters – 刀乇下 does not spell "DEF", it is "knife, ??, below". Be aware of this if your audience includes speakers of those languages.
The style is accepted in Discord, Steam, Roblox display names, Free Fire and PUBG Mobile, and in Instagram/TikTok Name fields. CJK characters are full-width, so a name in this style is roughly twice as wide as the same name in Latin letters – keep it short. The 「 」 and 【 】 bracket variants add the finishing touch used in anime-style tags.
Faux-Asian lettering is a decorative style, not a language. Avoid presenting it as real Japanese or Chinese, and use the real scripts (via a translator or the symbols library) when you mean to write in those languages.
