Styled letters are Unicode characters, not fonts β screen readers may read them letter by letter and search engines don't match them to plain words, so keep essential details in plain text. Unicode accessibility guide
League of Legends replaced summoner names with Riot IDs β a game name plus a tagline (Name#EUW). The game name is 3 to 16 characters and allows letters, numbers and spaces; the tagline is 3 to 5 characters, letters and numbers only. Riotβs filter accepts extended Latin letters, which is how accented names appear in champion select, but it rejects the Unicode styled alphabets, so bold and gothic will not save.
The styles still matter elsewhere. Clash team names, club names, tournament registrations, Discord names for your team, op.gg profile descriptions and LFG posts all accept full Unicode. The Accented letters row is the one that works inside the game itself.
Type your name (3β16 characters) or team name.
For a Riot ID use the Accented letters row; for teams and Discord use any style.
Paste into the Riot Account settings, or the Clash team name field.
What the game name and tagline accept.
Clash team names accept a wider character set than the Riot ID, so the bold and gothic rows work there, and a bracketed club tag ([MID]) appears beside membersβ names. Keep tags to three or four characters so they stay legible in the loading screen. For tournament sign-ups on third-party sites, use the Team frame row and keep a plain version of the name in the team description so organisers can search it.
Game names allow spaces, which many players use as a style in itself (Mid Diff rather than MidDiff). The Spaced caps row exaggerates that, but note that trailing and doubled spaces are collapsed. Because the tagline is region-flavoured by default (#EUW, #NA1), changing it to a custom three-to-five character string is a subtle way to personalise the ID without touching the name.
No β Riot IDs allow letters, numbers and spaces. Accented Latin letters do work.
The game name is 3β16 characters; the tagline is 3β5 characters.
Yes β Riot Account settings let you set a custom 3β5 character tagline.
Team names accept a wider set than the Riot ID, so most styles display there.
